Interlocutors to submit report on Wednesday | Day before Omar leaves for Delhi | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Oct 11 (KNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday left for New Delhi where he is expected to meet Union Home Minister P Chidamabaram. Sources told KNS that Omar has been called by the center to discuss interlocutors’ report with him. The report would be submitted to the Home Ministry tomorrow.
Chief Minister’s Political Advisor, Davender Singh Rana confirmed to KNS that Omar is scheduled to meet Chidambaram in the evening.
“Yes Omar sahib is scheduled to meet Chidamabaram sahib at 7 in the evening. But I don’t have any information about the interlocutor’s report,” Rana said.
Sources told KNS that political situation emanating after recent controversy of alleged custodial death of a senior National Conference worker will also be discussed in the meeting.
The three member interlocutors panel which consists of eminent journalist Dileep Padgaonkar, academician Radha Kumar and former Information Commissioner M.M. Ansar, was constituted by the Central Government after last year’s summer uprising. The panel had been announced by Home Minster P. Chidambaram during the high level visit of All Party delegation which he was heading in the mid September.
The interlocutors paid first visit to Valley on October 12, 2010. The team thereafter visited the state 12 times during which they intreracted people from all the 22 district of the state.
During the one year term interlocutors met with Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minster Omar Abdullah, Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti and other politicians, social organizations, journalists and students.
Radha Kumar also had a chance to meet the former Prime Minster of Pakistan-administered-Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood when the latter had come to Srinagar to attend marriage ceremony of his businessman friend Zahoor Watali last month.
