J&K Bank’s financial literacy programmes at Ganderbal, Kulgam

SRINAGAR, Oct 11: With a view to make students and teachers aware about banking and its contemporary functioning, Jammu and Kashmir Bank organized awareness programmes in collaboration with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) at Ganderbal Higher Secondary School and Government Degree College Kulgam.
Programmes registered a good presence of teachers, commerce and management students of the institutions besides Cluster Heads Ganderbal and Kulgam. Raj Kumar Meena Assistant General Manager (AGM) RBI, who was Chief Guest on the occasion gave a brief lecture to students and informed them about Banking, RBI, Fake Note Currency identification, ATM operations, Financial Inclusion, Fake Lotteries, impact of recession, deficit finance, Monetary and Fiscal policies, Role and functions of non-banking finance companies (NBFC) & Banks Ombudsman etc.
Speaking at Kulgam Degree College, AGM (RBI) R K Meena also spoke in length about the role, functions and activities of R.B.I. He also replied and responded to various queries raised by the students of the College while interacting in a post-lecture session. A quiz programme was also held in which various participating students were presented gifts by the RBI official.
Cluster Head Ganderbal Mohammad Amin Khan concluded the programme while giving a brief about J & K Bank functioning in district Ganderbal. He said, “J&K Bank being the peoples’ bank is committed to serve the society as it has done in the past. The Bank stands with the people in testing times and serves the society.”
He advised the students to inculcate saving habits in them by opening Saving Accounts with J& K Bank and also take advantage of other Bank schemes and products like Education Loan, Laptop Finance, J&K Term Loan for B.Ed/M.Ed courses and Budshah Primary Education Finance which have been designed to provide opportunity to children of all sections of society to have good quality education.
Abdul Hamid presented vote of thanks in the end. Meanwhile at Kulgam, Director JKBRSETI Kulgam M Shafi Ayaz informed the participants about various banking facilities J&K Bank is providing for economic upliftment of the people of the state and unemployed youth in particular.
LBO G.M.Dar advised the students to go through the various Govt. Sponsored employment generating schemes offered by the banks to overcome the crises of unemployment. Principal of the College Dr. Peerzada Mohammad Yousuf thanked the RBI and J&K Bank for organizing the programme in the College and described it very useful and informative.
