Burglar held with gold jewellery worth lakhs | | | JAMMU: Police today arrested a notorious burglar and recovered gold ornaments worth lakhs from his possession. He was identified as Bashir Ahmad alias Billoo, son of Sabz Ali of Jakheni, Udhampur. Four cases of burglary were solved on his disclosure, police sources said. He was apprehended by Trikuta Nagar police on a tip-off. The four burglaries had been committed by him in Bhatindi area, the sources added, alleging that he was a professional thief. Sources said he was already booked in several burglary cases in Udhampur district and had been facing trial in the court of law. He was alleged to have stolen seven tolas of gold ornaments and sanitary items from the house of Darshan Singh, son of Pritam Singh of Channi Rama on October 18 last year. Three and a half tolas of gold ornaments were stolen by him from the house of Ghulam Rabbani, son of Ghulam Ahmed Rabbani of Palli Hill Colony, Bhatindi, on September 10 last year. He was also alleged to have stolen four mobile phones from the house of Ghulam Ahmed Wani, son of Abdul Khaliq Wani of Satellite Colony, Bhatindi, on June 20 this year. Seven tolas of gold ornaments and copper utensils were stolen by him from the house of Aiyaz Bhat of Satellite Colony, Bhatindi, on July 3 this year. His sustained questioning was on. |
