| Peace, conducive atmosphere vital for progress: Aijaz | | | Jammu, DeC 8 Highlighting bravery and patriotism of Gujjar and Bakerwal community, Minister for Rural Development Mr. Jugal Kishore said that they have always worked for unity and integrity of the state. He said that Gujjars and Bakerwals have always played a pivotal role in strengthening communal harmony, brotherhood and bonds of love. “Though the community remained backward economically for not receiving focussed attention especially on the development front yet it has always contributed their lot in raising to higher pedestal pluralistic culture of the state,” the Minister maintained while addressing Gujjar and Bakerwal conference at Patta Reasi. Mr. Jugal Kishore said people living in backward and hilly areas have to face lot of difficulties for various reasons including inaccessibility of the areas and topographical vagaries. He said Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has focussed its attention to uplift the socio-economic conditions of all the people living in far-flung and backward areas including Gujjar and Bakerwals. He said creation of new districts, three sub-division and 13 tehsils is a step forward to carry administration to every nook and corner of the state and to respond to the people is genuine demands. Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan who also spoke on the occasion, said that backward areas and people hitherto being in the backward and far-flung regions are receiving highest attention in the present Government. He said that Chief Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad is keen to ameliorate the lot of economically down trodden people living in hills and far off areas like Gujjar and Bakerwals. He said attention is being paid to provide all basic amenities to the people living in rural and far-off areas. He said a massive programme of connecting cut of areas with main roads has been set in place to provide opportunities for the people living there to enhance their economic activities and reap the benefits of progress and prosperity. He said peace being the pre-requisite for development should rule the roost in every area. “Unless peaceful and conducive atmosphere is not created progress can not take place, he said”. Mr. Khan said the hilly areas of the state provide great potential for horticulture and animal rearing activities, which require massive expansion on modern lines.
