| Kishtwar Police drops rape charges | | Inspector set free | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kishtwar October 12:- As expected the Kishtwar police today dropped rape charges against a police officer Vijay Kumar Bhaghat. He was released after seven days of his arrest after the victim stated that she was forced by the wife of the officer to register the rape case against the accused.
Senior police officials when contacted confirmed the police officer’s release. “After receiving the copy of the statement of the victim, there was no justification in keeping the officer behind bars”, said an officer.
Police said that investigating officer will file a detail report under section 169 RPC before the CJM Kishtwar with a couple of days. In a question regarding registration of case against Seema Khathora for logging fake FIR and wasting the precious time of the court, the police officials said that they were looking into the aspect and said that after filing the status report in court, they were hopeful that honorable court will pass some order in this regard and action if any will be initiated as was applicable under law.
