| 3130 SSI units registered in the state | | | Jammu,Feb.28:During 2002-05 about 3130 SSI units have been formally registered in the State which provide employment to 16037 persons. This was stated by Minister incharge Industries and Commerce, Mr. Rigzin Jora in reply to a question by Mr. Arvinder Singh in Legislative Council today. He said during the same period 78 units in Medium and large sector have started production which employed 11368 persons.
Rs. 40.06 crores have been provided as incentives to 1975 units by the department during this period. He said that the industrial policy was formulated with a view to providing employment to locals by giving incentives in form of subsidy in respect of electricity charges, excise, toll, income tax benefits etc. to the prospective industrialists from other parts of country to set up industrial units.
