Police foils bovine smuggling bid | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Udhampur, Oct 13 Udhampur Police foiled a new modus operandi under which bovine animals were being smuggled to valley by arresting four bovine smugglers. Giving details, SSP Udhampur, Shakeel Ahmed Beig,IPS said that, as police had tightened nose of smugglers from past few months now smugglers has adopted a new technique for transporting bovine animals to Kashmir valley, in the trucks loaded with FCI wheat and rice. He added that on a specific input , a Police Party of police station Kud headed by Inspector Pardeep Gupta, laid a surprise naka at National Highway near main bazaar Kud and during checking intercepted two trucks bearing registration Nos. JK03-2061 & JK03-1019 loaded with 186 bags of FCI rice & 184 Bags of FCI wheat respectively, which were being transported from FCI Store, Near Railway Station, Jammu to JKFSD, Mir Bazar, Srinagar as per the Challan. During thorough checking of these trucks, it was found that, 9 bovine animals brutally loaded in these trucks, 5 in one truck and 4 in other were being smuggled towards valley. All the four smugglers involved in the crime namely Abdul Qayoom Naik son of Gh. Hassan Naik Resident of Vernal, Lammer, Kulgam, Sajjad Ahmed son of Gh. Mohd. Mir resident of Churat, Debsir, Kulgam, Sajjad Ahmed son of Abdul Ahad Bhat resident of Churat, Debsir, Kulgam, and Rakjeet Ahmed Mir son of Mohd. Amin resident of Churat, Debsir, Kulgam were arrested on the spot and trucks were also seized.
