Ration pilferage: culprits arrested, vehicle seized | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Udhampur, Oct 13 In a major break through, the District Administration and Police Authorities have cracked upon the pilferage of Food Corporation of India ration meant for public consumption. According to SSP Udhampur, . Shakeel Ahmed Beig, acting upon a confidential input, the police team led by Station House Officer, Chenani Mr. Niaz-Ul-Hassan today caught red handed the culprits who were indulging in stealing of flour from FCI loaded vehicle wearing registration no. JK02AP-5449 in Dharmthal area under Chenani Police Station jurisdiction. The loaded truck was on its way from FCI New Godown, Railway Station Jammu to Kishtwar under Challan No. 12322 (Sr. No. 0087532) and was meant for delivery to TSO Kishtwar for further disbursement to the general public of Kishtwar on subsidized govt. rates. According to police source, the truck was carrying 180 flour bags weighing 50 kg each. The culprits in connivance with the locals used to extract sum of the flour from each of the bag thereby reducing the net weight of each bag but retaining their count intact. The police has also recovered the five flour bags from the near by houses where this misconduct was going on. The culprits Kamal Nath Son of Harbans Lal resident of Garkhal tehsil Akhnoor along with cleaner Rakesh son of som Nath resident of Samya, Akhnoor and another two locals namely Dharam Chand Son of Balak Ram and Tara Chand son of Sant Ram both resident of Dharmthal area had chalked out a strategy for committing theft of FCI ration which has get unnoticed till now.
