| Football: Semifinals position cleared | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 13: Host GGM Science College and title holders, Government MAM College among four teams have made it to the semifinals of the ongoing inter-college men’s football tournament at GGM Science College ground, here.
Except for a quarterfinal, played between MBS College and PG Arts, which latter won 2-1, other matches remained one-sided with opponents failing to open their accounts.
Now, in the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow, MA College shall take on PG Departments while GGM Science College shall lock horns against SPMR College of Commerce.
Earlier, in the first quarterfinal of the day, Science College blanked Trikuta Degree College 6-0. Rahul Singh (2nd and 10th), Abhinash (13th and 23rd), Balpreet (24th) and Sahil (51st) were the scorers.
In another quarterfinal, Commerce College registered a 2-0 win against Government Degree College Samba. Dharam and Sunil scored the goals in the eighth and 25th minute of the match respectively.
The match, played amidst protest, was won by PG Arts outplayed MBS College 2-1. Gautam Sharma (18th) and Pardeep Katosh (47th) were the scorers from winners while Gagandeep Sambyal reduced the margin in the 55th minute.
In the fourth quarterfinal, title holders, MAM College trounced Bhargva College by three goals to nil. Shubam Singh Sambyal netted the ball for first goal in the 22nd minute followed by one goal each from Satnam Singh (42nd) and Barjinder Kumar (45th).
