| Truth cannot be expected until Haji Yousuf case is handed over to CBI: BJP | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct `13: To mobilize public opinion and exert pressure on the state government to hand over the case of Yousuf Shah’s mysterious death to CBI, BJP activists led by state president Shamsher Singh Manhas staged a dharna outside the Raj Bhawan on Thursday.
While addressing the party activists on the occasion, Manhas said that through today’s dharna a message has been conveyed to the State government that truth cannot be expected till the case related to the mysterious death of Haji Yousuf is handed over to CBI.
He said as there have been allegations against the Chief Minister, who is also the Home Minister, an impartial inquiry cannot be expected by a state agency.
He said that BJP is not politicising the issue but want that truth should come out.
The BJP has been continuously raising the issue of corruption and it is the dream of our party to ensure a corruption free and accountable administration.
He said that party’s national senior leader L.K. Advani has undertaken Chetna Yatra with a clear motive to reach the masses across the country and garner their support against the such policies of Congress-led UPA which have only promoted corruption and harmed the interests of a common Indian citizen.
He questioned the complete silence by PDP after making initial hue and cry. The role of Congress and Panthers Party too has been very vague, he said adding that the Congress seems to be under some agreement with the NC over the issue.
Former State President & Jammu East MLA Ashok Khajuria said that it has become a routine in the state that every now and then vital issues of corruption, law and order, discrimination, resentment among the educated youth are raised but instead of addressing the basic issues confronting the people of the state the CM’s residence has been converted into a hub of corrupt activities and hatching conspiracy to liquidate those speaking against the corruption.
There seems a rat race among the ministers of NC-Congress coalition in accumulating as much wealth as possible through corrupt practices, he said.
BJP chief spokesperson & national executive member Jitendra Singh said that this is a cash for MLC scam which has undermined the sanctity of State Legislative Council.
He said Haji Syed Yousuf Mohd. was a whistle blower who could have disclosed much more about the dubious sale of MLC seats and ministerial berths but he got silenced before that and all those in whose presence Yousuf was assaulted without being protected are also party to this crime.
Party MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the NC-Congress coalition has created record in corruption cases and the UPA has been equal responsible as it is backing the Omar-led government for the sake of chair.
Cases against a number of ministers are pending in the SAC and no one has any concern to ensure that the culprits are brought to book at the earliest.
Other senior leaders including Chander Prakash Ganga, Satish Sharma, Sat Sharma (c.a), Usha Choudhary, Kavinder Gupta, Amarnath Gupta, Yudhvir Sethi, Ramesh Arora (Adv.), Dr. Nirmal Kamal, MLA Shyam Choudhary, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Bansi Lal Bharti, N.D. Rajwal, Munish Sharma, Sakina Bano, Rajinder Sharma, Priya Sethi also addressed the dharna.
