7th JK SC -11 inaugurated at University | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, October 13 : The Inauguration Session of 7th JK Science Congress was held at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex, University of Jammu, Jammu. Professor Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Jammu was the Chief Guest of the occasion and shared dias with Professor I A Hamal, Vice Chancellor, Baba Gulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, Professor Rajive Gupta, Dean Research and Dean, Faculty of Science, the Organizing Secretary and Professor Kuldeep K. Sharma, Head, Department of Zoology Co-Organizing Secretary. Professor Varun Sahini in his inaugural address welcomed the delegates. He elaborated that the focus of the Congress is on wider and deeper participation of the researchers and student community. Prof. I. A. Hamal, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU, in his address emphasized that the benefits of the science and technologies must reach the rural areas of the State. Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Professor Rajive Gupta said that JK Science Congress was initiated in 2005 and since then it is being alternatively organized by University of Jammu and University of Kashmir respectively. This time 7JKSC-11 is being organized at University of Jammu with the theme - Science and Technology: Inspiring Innovation. The focus areas of 7th JK Science Congress include J&K Science and Technology Vision 2030, Greener Technology and Energy Crisis: Non-Conventional/ Alternate energy. The dignitaries on the dais also released the Souvenir and Abstract Book of 7JKSC-11. Professor Kuldeep Sharma, Co-organizing secretary presented the formal vote of thanks. The students from different Colleges presented their views on JK Science Technology Vision 2030 in the student Congress. Professor Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University delivered the Plenary Lecture on the topic Science and Technology for Improved Earth system Governance in the following session. The parallel sessions were held at 9 different venues in which about 200 technical oral papers were presented. In addition to there were 99 poster paper presentations at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex.
