First air-conditioned Post Office in Jammu & Kashmir

New Delhi, Oct 14: The first air-conditioned Post Office in Jammu & Kashmir was inaugurated today by John Samuel, Chief Postmaster General, Jammu & Kashmir at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Jammu. The first Floating Post Office, the first ‘My Stamp’ and now comes the first Air-conditioned Post Office to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The Post Office covers University campus and Village Chatha with Pin Code number 180009.
As a part of Postal Week celebrations, Jammu & Kashmir Postal Circle has been launching many initiatives and many Post Offices are being opened across the State.
The Chief Postmaster General said that a very long period, a new post office is being inaugurated in Jammu & Kashmir. The post office is fully computerized and provides all postal facilities including value added services like packing material, Speed Post, Express Parcel
Post, etc..
During this year 7 post offices will be opened across the State to cater to the requirements of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Chief Postmaster General informed that a new post office will be opened at Bahu Plaza in Jammu specially to cater to the requirements of various business organizations in the area. In Srinagar, post offices will be opened at Lal Bazar, SKIMS and NIT very soon. In a function organized in this regard at the University Auditorium, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. B. Mishra appreciated the role of the Post Office in bringing good news to everyone. He said that the Post Office will play a very useful purpose for the University in sending letters, parcels and other consignments.
The Chief Postmaster General said that the Post Office is making bold initiatives to change the way it functions. The staff members will be trained and oriented to provide good customer service. Change is the need of the hour and Post Office is geared to bring many changes in its operations
During the function, Shri Amit Sharma, Director Postal Services, Jammu & Kashmir welcomed the gathering and Dr. BB Gupta, Registrar, Sher-e-Kashmir University, Jammu spoke. Shri RL Bhardwaj, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Jammu Division, Jammu gave the vote of thanks.
