| JMC Commissioner conducts tour to check constructions | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 14:
Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation SC Sawhney alongwith Chief Enforcement Officers and field staff of Enforcement Wing undertook an extensive tour of Jammu City and visited the areas of Bakshi Nagar, Rehari Colony, Sarwal, Janipur, Paloura, Lower Roop Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Marble Market Deeli etc and inspected the constructions going on in order to ascertain whether they are conforming to building plans approved by the Jammu Municipal Corporation or not. During the drive the constructions which were found going on not in accordance with the Building Plans approved by the JMC were got stopped and the equipments used for the construction were confiscated. The Enforcement Staff has been instructed to remain vigilant to see that no unauthorized construction / encroachment takes place in their respective areas
Besides this, Under instructions from S.C. Sawheny Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu, the Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith team of Food Saftey Officers continued drive to check the quality of food items especially in view of forthcoming festivals of Karwa Chouth and Diwali and inspected about 75 no’s of food establishments like Sweets Shops / Workshops, Resturants / Dabhas, Fruit Juice Corners, Meat Shops, Tea Stalls, Cooked Food Reharies, Bakery Shops, Confectionary Shops in the areas of Vinayak Bazar, Jewel, Satwari, Kunjwani, Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Gandhi Nagar etc. During the inspection 06 no’s of defaulters were booked under the provisions of J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000. An amount of Rs 7000 was charged as fine from the defaulters. About 90 Kgs of Sub- Standard / unwholesome sweets, phenies, bakery products, Confectionary etc which were not fit for human consumption were also destroyed on spot.
