Manohar distributes Rs 14 lakh bonus among milk producers

JAMMU, Oct 14:
Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producer’s Cooperative Limited organized bonus distribution function at Milk Plant Satwari here today.

Minister for Cooperative (Independent Charge), Finance, Stationeries, Dr. Mahohar Lal Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sharma said that the government is working hard for restoration of transparent cooperative sector in the state. He said that elections for all primary cooperatives were held and these institutions are functional under the elected boards. He appreciated the role of JKMPCL to save the milk producers from exploitation by the middle man by bringing stability of the milk procurement price.. He said that JKMPCL is doing yeoman job by providing better quality milk products to the public at nominal rates. He said that the growth of the society depends upon the improved coordination between the society and the farmers. He asked the farmers that they are the share holder of the profit of the society adding that there is need for collective efforts and active participation of people to promote JKMPCL for the benefit of the weaker section of the society.

He said that dairy co-operative movement can play a significant role in facilitating prosperity through socio-economic transformation of rural parts of this state. He said that our mission is to promote the interest of our farmers by ensuring most remunerative prices for their milk and also to ensure that consumers in our state have access to high quality value for milk and milk products. He said that JKMPCL have achieved significant progress over the last seven years and our milk producers as well as consumers of Jammu and Kashmir are showing tremendous faith in us. He lauded the efforts of cooperatives and department of Animal Husbandry for there active support and cooperation given to the JKMPCL during the past few years.

The Minister further stated that JKMPCL has achieved tremendous achievement in the sector. He said that strengthening of JKMPCL is in the interest of the state, farming community and general public. He stressed upon other allied departments to give innovative inputs to milk producers so that more and more milk should be produced to fulfill the requirement.
On the occasion, the farmers putforth their demands and problems which mainly include the fixation of rate of milk, relaxation of tax on feed, seed, fertilizers and other products. The Minister assured them that their demands should be addressed in a phased manner in a stipulated time period.

Later, the Minister also distributed bonus in the form of cheques among the farmers for their contributing exceptional efforts towards to the society (JKMPCL).

Among others Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone, Dilbagh Singh, officers of concerned departments, prominent citizens, farmers were also present on the occasion.
