Hunt begins amid hectic lobbying for slots in SVC and PSC | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 14: Hectic lobbying has started by retired and retiring state government officials for coveted slots to be filled in the State Vigilance Commission, Public Service Commission, the proposed planning board and the state election commission. Authoritative sources have told Early Times that senior bureaucrats who have retired or are retiring in near future are making rounds of the politicians of ruling NC and the Congress to garner support for their nomination to the panels being worked out for these top slots. Some of the retiring senior bureaucrats are also in the race for these slots. It is reliably learnt that some senior ministers of cabinet are actively pushing the names of their favourites for these posts. It is ironical that suitability, integrity, honesty and reputation are not the criteria for the drawing of panels for these high profile jobs. Some of the otherwise tainted retired and retiring bureaucrats are believed to be the hot favourites of these ministers for these slots. There were some names of honest retired civil servants of proven integrity doing the rounds for these slots in the past few months, but unfortunately for their failure to muster political support, their names are most likely to be overlooked for either the State Vigilance Commission or the Public Service Commission, sources told Early Times. While two slots of members are lying vacant at present in the Public Service Commission, besides the chief vigilance commissioner, the slots of two vigilance commissioners are also to be filed in the State Vigilance Commission. |
