MAM wins football trophy 4th time in a row

JAMMU, Oct 15: Government MAM College today clinched the inter-college football trophy for fourth consecutive time outplaying equally good, GGM Science College in the final that played at GGM Science College ground, here.
As expected, the final remained a close contest between the two young sides of the city colleges and side taking the first lead emerged the winner.
The only goal of the match came in the 29th minute through Aditya Manhas, who made no mistake in availing the opportunity coming his way. However, the energetic side of Science College looked weak in finishing, especially in the last ten minutes of the game.
Science College missed as many as three sure goal chances while launching a scathing attack on the opponent goal post in an attempt to level the score on board.
The entertaining title clash attracted a healthy crowd of young fans and supporters from the colleges playing in the final.
Earlier, during the match, a yellow card was shown to Vikas as a warning for his foul play by the centre referee, T Josh of Boarder Security Force. Josh was assisted by K Barua, Suresh Gupta and Gagan Kumar in the final.
Soon after the final whistle by the centre referee, the Principal of winning College, Dr Ajit Angral entered the field and joined the celebrations with the team. He patted the boys for retaining the trophy. He was all praise for Physical Director of the college, Mahesh Sharma for raising a winning team.
In the final and prize distribution function, Principal of GGM Science College, Prof Satinder Singh was chief guest, who gave away medals to the finalist teams and presented trophy to MAM College amidst cheering from the crowd.
Speaking to the gathering, Prof Singh appreciated the players for playing in true spirit of sports throughout the tournament. He also thanked the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu for allotting the event to the college.
