Posts department celebrates postal week | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 14: Department of Posts has been celebrating postal week celebrations during this week with objective of getting closer to the people of J&K. Celebrations began with the launch of Gift Post service and distribution of Best Postmen Awards by Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister of Tourism on October 10 at Srinagar. As a part of the celebrations, Post shop was inaugurated in the Srinagar GPO on October 11, 2011, by John Samuel Chief Postmaster General J&K. As a part of Post office Week celebrations, the first air-conditioned Post Office in Jammu & Kashmir was inaugurated by John Samuel, Chief Postmaster General, Jammu & Kashmir at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu. First Floating Post Office, the first 'My Stamp' and now comes the first Air-conditioned Post Office to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. During this year, 7 post offices will be opened across the State to cater to the requirements of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. A new post office will be opened at Bahu Plaza in Jammu specially to cater to the requirements of various business organizations in the area. In Srinagar, post offices will be opened at Lal Bazar, SKIMS and NIT very soon. As a part of Jammu Stamps Show 2011, the Department is organizing Letter Writing competition, Stamp Design competition and Quiz programs. The Letter writing will be on the theme 'Letter to my friend' and school children of all ages can participate in the competition. The first prize for the best entry under Letter Writing competition will be Rs 10,000, the second prize
