Situation not conducive for revocation of AFSPA, political, social organizations ridicule CM's demand | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 15: Notwithstanding the claims made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah regarding the improvement of situation in the trouble-torn J&K state and his subsequent demand for withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) the facts are altogether different as ground situation continues to be fluid in the state in general and Kashmir Valley in particular. Mr Abdullah has come to severe criticism for repeatedly advocating for withdrawal of troops and AFSPA from J&K by various political and social organizations. The BJP, VHP, Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena, Ram Sena as well as various other organizations including the Kashmiri Pandits and refugees from PoK and Pakistan have expressed their total displeasure over the CM's opt repeated statements in this regard. Terming the statement a childish move and political game plan of National Conference (NC) Bajrng Dal has said Omar Abdullah is trying to placate the voters in Kashmir Valley who have been totally disillusioned with the Party who are fast losing ground to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The CM by his statement tries to win over the separatists in Kashmir forgetting that he is doing a lot of damage to his party as people in other parts are bound to demonstrate against such provocative statements of Mr Abdullah. BJP has also opposed the demand and a party spokesman termed the CM's opt-repeated statements demanding withdrawal of AFSPA as childish. Warning against the revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act or withdrawal of troops from the state Hindustan Shiv Sena (HSS) chief Dimpy Kohli said that security situation is totally volatile in the state and any step taken regarding withdrawal of AFSA will suicidal. He said in view of the startling disclosures that terrorist groups with their roots in Pakistan and support base in J&K were going to rock Delhi on Dewali this year is an indication that terrorist are neither out nor down but were mobilizing themselves for future attacks to destablise India in accordance with gameplan of Pakistan. This fact should be borne in mind by the national leaders and they should not show any leniency to terrorists and separatists, he added. The terrorists have posed a grave challenge to national unity and integrity and they deserve to be dealt like enemy said Prakash Sharma VHP national leader. Recently some youth from Kishtwar were arrested for Delhi blasts and the Government can't close its eyes to what is happening in the state, he added. He said it is ridiculous that on one hand CM is demanding withdrawal of troops and AFSPA and on the other hand the security nakas are being established every where even in Jammu to check the militants movement in view of startling revelations that terrorists are going to attack capital on Diwali. If really situation has improved in the state then why the Rakshak force has been deployed on various city routes in Jammu for last over one week to check the movement of terrorists is a million dollar question. If situation has really improved in the state why then the Rakshak vans are deployed even in Winter Capital, he asked? The recent killing of army personnel in Kupwara and other places of valley besides gunning down of large number of militants and revelations made by the army chief that hundreds of militants are waiting across the LOC to intrude before the snow fall should be an eye opener for those who advocate for revocation of AFSPA, said Pritam Sharma, general secretary Kranti Dal. The situation is deteriorating in the state day by day and Government needs to crush the terrorists and separatists with iron hands, said Ramesh Manwati of Panun Kashmir. There can be no compromise on issues concerning national integrity and sovereignty he said while rejecting the CM's demand on revocation of AFSPA. |
