Mustfa Kamaal says Omar nay kamala kardiya | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 15: The newly appointed chief spokesman of the National Conference, Dr Mustafa Kamaal today talked about transparency and accountability in governance. He praised Omar Abdullah for a host of reasons ranging from holding `credible, peaceful' panchayat elections to enacting Public Service Guarantee Act. All these measures, according to Kamaal have ensured transparency and accountability. He was addressing party workers at Nawai-Subh complex here today. Kamaal's address reminds one of a Paharai Imam and his son Noor Jamal. While delivering a sermon in a mosque on a Friday, the revered Imam threw light on lawful and prohibited in Islam. He said the flesh of a mule was forbidden. However, same evening a neighbor intercepted him and asked him whether mule's flesh was lawful or forbidden. He was quick to reply. "I have made it clear today. It is forbidden." The neighbor said: "But your son Noor Jamal was present at a feast where mule flesh was served." The Imam did not even think for a second. He shot back: "Jithay Sada Noor Jamal; Khota, Gada Sab Halhaal." (Nothing is forbidden for my Noor Jamaal). During Omar's regime the state had the distinction of becoming the most corrupt state status. The city of Srinagar which Omar calls face of Jammu Kashmir was declared the third most dirtiest city of the country. There is no denying the fact that Kashmir remained peaceful this year. But can Omar alone take the credit for it? Thousands of youth were taken into custody and detained under Public Safety Act (PSA). Nocturnal raids were conducted across Kashmir especially in Srinagar to round up the `unscrupulous' elements. Long queues of aggrieved parents seeking release of their wards can still be seen outside various police stations. Reports of `arrests for ransom' have also been received. This is the price; Kashmir has paid for what Kamaal calls peaceful summer. But Kamaal cannot see all this. Omar is his Noor Jamaal and nothing is forbidden for him! |
