| JKLF welcomes Pak's stand that Kashmir not its integral part | | |
London, Dec 21 The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (Amanullah Group) has welcomed Pakistan's stand that Kashmir is not its integral part. "We welcome some flexibility shown by Pakistan over its Kashmir policy in declaring that Kashmir is not an integral part of its federation," Prof Zafar Khan, head of diplomatic affairs of the Front told reporters here last evening. "However, the JKLF does not accept President Pervez Musharraf's rejection of an independent and sovereign status as a solution to the issue," he said. Welcoming the dialogue between India and Pakistan, Khan said JKLF has always supported rapprochement and dialogue for peace and prosperity in South Asia and over the years has sought to make Kashmir a bridge of peace and friendship, rather than enmity between the two countries. He also said that the Central Executive committee of party at Rawalpindi last Sunday acceded to Amanullah Khan's request to relieve him of the day-to-day duties of the organization and appointed Sardar Muhammad Saghir Khan, advocate, as Chairman. 76-year-old old Amanullah Khan, founder of the organization has been appointed supreme leader. "We have also decided to launch a vigorous programme of political activities on both sides of the LoC," he said. Referring to Baroness Emma Nicholson's recent draft report on Kashmir for the European Parliament, he said, "it was a missed opportunity as the report failed to recognize the central question of the people's right of self determination." |
