Kishtwar, Oct 15: As a matter of party strategy of 'protecting' Chief Minister and NC as an ally over controversy of death in custody, , Union Helath minister few days back may well have supported Omar Abdullah but he toed the opposition line in highlighting loopholes and drawbacks in development scenario in the state, hitting out Chief Minister in an oblique manner today.
Without naming Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today lashed out at coalition government for neglecting the Chenab region on various developmental fronts. Azad who in the present 'political atmosphere' is considered as one among the strong supporters of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his anger over the slow pace of developmental work in one of the strongest Congress bastion Chenab region viz Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban . While talking to media persons Azad took a dig at the NC led government for slow pace of developmental work in Bhaderwah and other parts of Chenab region. He said that all the developmental works started by him during his tenure as Chief Minister were left unfinished in present coalition regime. He said that all those developmental works, which he had left requires hardly two to three months to get finished. He regretted that even after the lapse of more than three years are those developmental works remained still stand. Besides taking a stock of the progress of various ongoing developmental works in Chenab region with various officers of the District as well as from state, Mr. Azad stressed the need for what he said 'expediting' the works on various development projects started by the state and central government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. "The aim and purpose of starting these projects was to give a facelift to these backward and remote areas so that the public of this far flung area get benefited.........but the existing condition shows that has not been served", Azad lamented. After reviewing the developmental projects , Azad visited Bhaderwah Hospital, TRC Ghata, GDC Bhaderwah to inspect progress of work on Herbal Garden named after Ghulam Rasool Azad. he also inspected the progress of work on Bhaderwah Chamba road and later marched through various Bazars of Bhaderwah town , which is being seen as a move to restore the confidence and peace between the two communities. During his visit to Degree College Bhaderwah, Mr. Azad while interacting with the students told them that if one person committed mistake, whole community could not be blamed or viewed as not having respect for the other community and its beliefs.. He urged them not to indulge in any such activity that can vitiate the peaceful atmosphere and urged the students to maintain peace and communal harmony. He was accompanied by former R & B minister and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori, MLC Naresh Gupta, MLA Bhaderwah Mohammad Sherief Naz, Senior Congress leader Thakur Jughal Bhandari, DC Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan and others.
It is worthwhile to mention that Bhaderwah town of Doda district witnessed communal clashes few days ago after and it was only after the intervention of Ghulam Nabi Azad, peace has been restored in Bhaderwah town.
