| Private sector education plays pivotal role in eradication of illiteracy: Vishen | | |
Jammu, Dec 21 A delegation comprising of professors, principals and intellectuals of Kashmir valley who are presently at Jammu met various establishments and senior level officers of the state government and impressed upon them to play their role in developing fast emerging private sector education network. The delegation which is headed by renowned Prof. C. L. Vishen, said that at present around 10 lakh students are receiving education through private educational institutions and at the same time private colleges including Technical and BEd colleges have attracted more than 65000 students from outside the state which has helped in making Kashmir valley as a seat of learning an education. The delegation hailed Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad for his extra-ordinary role in encouraging all the steps which has been taken by him for eradication of illiteracy in the state. The private sector education set up which is existing in the state for last 30 years has now became one of the important and vital component giving employment to lakhs of un-employed educated youth. The President of Jammu and Kashmir Private Schools United Forum Mr. C. L. Vishen said that in private schools about 70000 staff upto the class 12th is working in 3000 schools in the valley alone while as in private technical and BEd colleges at least 5000 professional staff is working. Mr. Vishen said that as compared to any other industrial and allied private sector education has became umbrella for majority of the people. He said that in increasing the literacy rate from 17 percent to above 50 percent private education sector has played significant role. He said that without causing to any burden to government exchequer the private sector education system is providing all facilities to the student in exploring his talent. He said the students are being sent to different parts of the country and different places of the state for inculcating the spirit of national integration. He said that with the time every body has started acknowledging and appreciating the importance of private education and now like urban areas people of rural areas have also started to admit their wards in private schools as a result of which number of private educational institutions in rural areas is increasing. The members of delegation who met with various establishments and senior officers of the government at Jammu includes Prof. G. N. Sidiqui, Mr. G.N. Parray, Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Baig, Mr. Mohammad Yusuf Manzar, Mr. Altaf Gowhar, Mr. Rouf Ahmed Zargar, Mr. Abdul Qayoom Mir, Mr. Nazir Ahmed, Mr. Fayaz Ahmed and Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Lavy. |
