| Mehbooba demands probe into Lone’s death | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 16 Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti Sunday expressed concern over the death of Mushtaq Ahmad Lone of Melhura Wachie, who died while drowning in the river.
However, the local claims that he was deliberately drowned by the police while chasing during a raid to destroy the Bhang crop.
Mehbooba said that an enquiry into the matter should be soon set up in order to get the facts. She emphasized if police really want to curb the menace of Bhang, Charas and other allied narcotic product, it should be done in a proper legal manner. “While dealing with such cases no loss of life at any cost should happen. To curb criminal practices does not mean to take the life of any person,” she said
Mehbooba demanded compensation for the victims’ family and a through probe into the matter.
