EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Oct 16 To welcome harud (autumn) season, ‘harud tree talks’ were held in a row in Srinagar. ‘Tree talk’ deliberations at Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture in Rangreth focused on high yielding fruit varieties developed by CITH scientists. High value crops like Saffron, Chard, Lettuce, Khanyari Haak, European Olive, Kiwi, Walnuts, Ambri, Apricots, Almonds, Persimmons, Hazelnuts and Pistachios came under discussion by the scientific stalwarts. ‘Tree talk’ in Zabarwan Tourism Park focused on changing moods of nature adoring attractive tints of autumn, enjoying melodies of migratory birds, silence of cicadas, mesmerizing beauty of Chinars before advent of Chille Kalaan in Kashmir. ‘Tree-talk’ in Hokersar talked about history and culture associated with Kashmir willows, need of cutting down of willows around the Wullur lake to restore its glory. Prominent experts who attended the ‘tree-talks’ included Prof Nazeer Ahmad Director (CITH ), Dr D B Singh, Dr Pervaiz Qazi IIM Scientist, Dr Shah Faesal (IAS), Prof G A Bhat, Tassaduq Mueen, Fida Iqbal, Monisa Bandey , Stanzin Landol, Botanist Haqiqat Singh, Zoologist M R Sharma, Dr Megna Rashid, Dr Nusrat Jan, Arvinder Amn, M A Tak, Dy Secretary Cultural Academy, poet Abdul Rehman, painter Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh and Floriculturist Syed Imtyiaz Zaidi.
