Vinod, Sunita suspend hunger strike on Chib’s assurance

Jammu, Oct 16: The ten-day long indefinite hunger strike was finally suspended by Vinod Pandit and Sunita Sharma after senior cabinet minister of Omar Abdullah Government came to the hunger strike venue and persuaded the hunger strikers to end their fast assuring that he would take up their demands at the highest level to initiate talks with All Party Hindu Coordination Committee (APHCC) members adding he was personally pained to see that they were on hunger strike for the last ten days.
RS Chib was accompanied by District Magistrate Jammu Sanjeev Verma and offered juice to Vinod Pandit, chairman All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) and Sunita Sharma of Rural Women Foundation (RWF) who were on an indefinite hunger strike for the last ten days under the banner of All Party Hindu Coordination Committee (APHCC).
However the APHCC core committee members made it clear to the minister that they were only suspending the agitation for a month on his assurance and word and see whether government comes up with a secretariat level committee to talk to the core committee members of APHCC failing which they will resume the strike and that too from his house.
Talking to the core committee members at the venue Chib said that hunger strike was the extreme step and assured that he will take up the matter at the highest level of the government and discuss their Memorandum adding they must have faith on his word after which the core committee members decide to give the government a chance and suspended the hunger strike for a month to see the results.
Chib also sent team of doctors to examine Vinod and Sunita at the venue. Later the core committee alongwith Vinod Pandiot and Sunita Sharma went to famous Raghunath Temple and offered prayers there to thank and seeking blessings of the lord for the success of their future agitation and programmes.
Meanwhile core committee members Vikas Dewan, Pritam Sharma, Kanail Chand, King C Bharati, Rajiv Mahajan, BL Gupta, Advocate Arun Kandroo, Sandeep Bhat, Ved Ghandotra, Nirmal Rattan, Pushpa Sharma and MK Koul of BCP thanked Jammuites, political, social and religious parties and press media as well as Delhi unit of APMCC and supporters in Jhaharkhand etc for their support during the hunger strike and hoped that those who did not come forward this time would join them in future struggles as it was a long drawn battle which has just begun
