| Does JKLF chairman wear NC knickers? | | Malik talks, Anna acts' | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 16: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Yasin Malik's statement about noted social worker Anna Hazare has been taken with a pinch of salt outside Kashmir. Responding to Anna's statement in which he said Jammu Kashmir was an integral part of India and ruled out a plebiscite in Jammu Kashmir, Malik said Anna was wearing RSS knickers.
"He is still wearing the RSS knickers (shorts) under the Khadi of Gandhi," Malik said in astatement."JK is not an integral part of any country. Calling himself as the image of Gandhi, Anna has now virtually become Nathu Ram Godsay. He is throwing dust into the eyes of world," Malik added.
The high drama started a few days back when a few workers of a right wing party manhandled Supreme Court Lawyer Prashant Bhushan when he was expressing his views on Kashmir. Bhushan who happens to be associated with Anna Hazare had made it clear that he was expressing his personal views. He said Kashmir was an issue that could be settled by a plebiscite.
Anna felt a need to clarify his stand. He issued a statement saying the views expressed by Bhushan were his personal views and had nothing to do with Team Anna. He also ruled out plebiscite in Jammu Kashmir. Anna's statement evoked a severe reaction from the separatist camp in Kashmir.
Malik's democratic right of expression cannot be contested. However, for his information Anna has launched a crusade against corruption and has managed to make New Delhi enact a legislation to curb corruption. What has Malik done for the cause he has been championing since 1990? There have been instances when he has been accused of playing `crisis manager' to bail out the government in difficult situations. The recent `custodial death' of a National Conference worker, Syed Yusuf evoked only a routine statement from him. Is he wearing NC knickers?
To justify his inaction, Yasin like other Hurriyat leaders has been accusing the government of imposing restrictions on their movement and liberty. Well, Anna and his team too were subjected to restrictions. But he managed to strike a chord. Yasin lacks the will and determination displayed by Anna!
