BJP seems to have been exposed for its double standards on cash for vote scam | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 16: The BJP seems to have been exposed for its double standards on corruption issue. While the former Deputy Prime Minister and BJP Parliamentary Board Chairman L K Advani is on nationwide yatra against the corruption the party's J&K unit is maintaining a stoic silence on the issue and seems to be hand in glove with ruling party on cash for vote scam which rocked the state recently. The total silence maintained by the Party on the mysterious death of Mohammed Yousf Shah a NC activist has raised many questions on BJP's stand viz a viz corruption. The credibility of the BJP which claims to be a party with difference is bound to be affected with such double standards in the state and the public is totally disillusioned with the style of functioning of the state leadership. According to sources the party is yet to overcome the damage suffered by it due to cross voting episode of April this year in which seven MLAs of BJP participated in cross voting against the Party candidate in favour of national Conference and Congress MLCs. Though the seven suspended MLAs are challenging the Party decision on the ground that the decision was not based on facts and they were made a scapegoat by giving clean chit to other four MLAs , the Party continued to show its rigid and high handed attitude towards them, sources added. The sources said that the BJP's role as an opposition party has also come under severe criticism after it failed to mobilize the public opinion and take on the Government on the Shah's mysterious death issue. Mr Shah who has made startling disclosures on cash for vote scam died in mysterious circumstances after he was summoned by CM's security men for questioning. Though main opposition PDP tried to make an issue out of it and cornered the Government both inside the State legislature as well as outside the House, the four BJP MLAs were mute spectator to entire episode as in nothing had happened knowing fully that disclosures made by Shah and his associate was a serious matter. Sources said with BJP claiming to be a party with a difference was supposed to take he Shah's issue vociferously both inside the State legislature and outside the House and compel the Government to reveal the facts about his death and punish the guilty. But being an opposition party BJP has failed in its prime duty and this attitude of party has annoyed the masses, sources added. Sources said on the issue of corruption including 2 G spectrum scam, Adarsh land scam and Asian Games scam BJYM held a massive protest rally in union Capital in which the Party cadres from entire country including J&K participated two months back. However the Party failed to come to streets on Shah's issue giving an impression that it has an hidden understanding with NC, sources added. Sources said on one hand the Advani took the government to task for arresting whistle blowers in cash for vote scam about which startling disclosures were made by his two Party MPs in Parliament in 2008 and on the other the Party maintained a total silence on the whistle blower in cash for vote scam in J&K. Are not these the double standards of BJP or Party was deliberately doing it to keep NC patriarch Dr Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah in a good humor.
