| Top official visits Indo-Bangla border | | |
SHILLONG: Amid opposition to the Indo-Bangla border fencing by villagers, Secretary, Border Management, in the Home Ministry B S Lalli visited some areas of the international boundary in Meghalaya to assess the ongoing work.
Lalli, who had come to Guwahati to review the Assam accord took some time off on Saturday and visited areas of Meghalaya's Garo Hills region and Jaintia hills district. Senior officials of BSF, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagland accompanied him.
The Home Ministry official also interacted with villagers in some places.
Villagers' in some areas of Khasi and Jaintia Hills district complained that their land had fallen on the other side of the border due to demarcation of the boundary.
Fencing was suspended "for the time being" in those places, BSF sources said. |
