| Kashmir Skaters to Participate in National Schools Roller Skating Championship | | | Jammu, Dec 21 Eight roller skaters of Kashmir Valley have been selected by the J&K Youth Services and Sports Department to represent J&K State in the forthcoming National Schools Roller Skating Championship to be organized by the Sports Authority of Gujarat at Ahmadabad from 27th to 31st December 2006. The championship is being organized under the auspices of School Games Federation of India. The Kashmir team comprises of Fehmi Yousuf, Maleeha Zainab & Sania of Mallinson. Asra of DPS, Rahil Farooq & Wamiq of Burn Hall School, Moothin & Usman of Biscoe School. Fehmi, Rahil & Wamiq are representing the state for second consecutive year. For her outstanding performance Fehmi Yousuf was provided sports scholarship of Rs.1750 by the Youth Services Department last year. The team is presently undergoing a vigorous coaching camp at Jammu and shall leave for Ahmadabad on 25th of this month. The selected skaters, their parents and Chairman of Kashmir Roller Skating Club have expressed their gratitude to Mr. A.R. Dar, District Youth Services Officer for popularizing roller skating among school going children in Srinagar district. They have also expressed their thanks to Mr. V. Gupta, Director Youth Services and Khawaja Farooq Ahmad Renzu, Director Information for the help they extended to Kashmir Skaters at Jammu. |
