Sham visits Parimpora F&V mandi, takes stock of facilities
‘Issues instructions for face lift of mandi’

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 17: Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Mr Sham Lal Sharma today paid visit to Parimpora Fruit & Vegetable market and took stock of the facilities there. He also inspected the on-going development activities in the mandi.
He issued instructions to the concerned engineers to complete the macadeamization work in the mandi before the onset of winter season. He also instructed for speeding up the construction work of lanes and drains and Weigh Bridge. He directed the officers of Horticulture (Planning & Marketing) to improve the revenue generation and create resources for the development of the mandi.
Mr. Sharma issued specific instructions to the Director Horticulture (Planning & Marketing) to undertake immediate construction of approach road, main gate and installation of high mast lights in the mandi for the facilities of the traders and other visitors. He said that Government has already earmarked Rs. 6 crore for the overall development and face lifting of the Parimpora mandi.
While interacting with the traders, the Minister said that Government was aware of their problems and efforts are being made to address them in phased manner. Regarding construction of cold store in the mandi, he said the proposal is at the active consideration of the government and shortly the funds would be arranged for the purpose. He asked them to extend full cooperation with the department to ensure development of the mandi. There is still great scope of improvement and every possible measure will be taken to further improving things on ground, he maintained.
The Members of the Association of Fruit & Vegetable pleaded the Minister for early allotment of shop sites in favour of those applicants who have deposited the fee long back as per the department’s advertisements in the Narwal mandi at Jammu. They maintained that there is some land dispute in the mandi, which needs to be sorted out thus paving way for the allotment.
Director Horticulture (Planning & Marketing), Mr. Javed Ahmed Khan and members of the association also accompanied the Minister.
