| Block Congress Committee meet held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 17: A joint meeting of Block Congress Committee Vijaypur and Purmandal were held at Vijaypur in which the problems of people were highlighted.
Hari Singh-vice president PCC was the chief guest in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion Singh said that the hike of irrigation tax from Rs. 150/- to Rs. 370/- is too much and a burden on farming community and demanded that it should be reviewed by the government.
The price of fertilizers and seeds is also high and both the commodities are not available in Vijaypur block.
He demanded adequate supply of seeds and fertilizers in Vijaypur and Purmandal blocks before the sousing of Rabi Crops.
Hari Singh demanded opening of procurement stations in Vijaypur block.
Presently there is no procurement station in the block and the farmers have been compelled to sell their paddy to the local businessmen on through away prices.
The government should purchase the paddy from the farmers as per the rates fixed by the government itself and for this purpose the procurement centers in the block should be opened immediately.
The meeting also condoled the death of Somnath- secretary BCC Vijaypur, who passed away recently.
Two minutes silence was observed in his memory and it was prayed to the almighty to grant peace to the departed soul in heaven.
Prominent among those who spoke in the meeting included Rashpal choudhary, Raghubir Sharma, Choudhary Ajit Singh, Parkash Sharma, Joginder Choudhary, S. Suchet Singh, S. Dhoonda Singh, Angrez Singh, Omkar Singh, Rashpal Sharma, Subtenter Singh and others.
