Sarpanch held for pilfering PHE pipes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR Oct 17 : Police has arrested a Sarpanch and a blacksmith in connection with the pilferage of at least 22 pipes of Public Health and Engineering (PHE) Department in central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Sources said that the Sarpanch Ghulam Nabi Shah and a local blacksmith Mohammad Altaf Ahangar were arrested by the police after 22 pipes belonging to PHE were recovered from their possession at Khansahib area in the district.
Station House Officer Inam Ahmad confirmed the arrest of the duo. “The Sarpanch is also working a contractor in the PHE and the pipes were recovered when they were constructing a shed,” he said.
A case under FIR 49/2011 under section 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant or agent), 413 (Habitually dealing in stolen property) has been arrested against them, the SHO added.
