Govt intensifies surprise checks, 13 teachers suspended

SRINAGAR Oct 17 :
After being instructed by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to intensify visits to various government offices and educational institutions to check the presence of staff, the administrative officers of various districts of the Kashmir valley again started surprise checks, a local news agency reported on Monday.

The agency said, on the very first day, Chief Education Officer Anantnag in South Kashmir conducted surprise checks at various schools in the remote areas where he found 13 school teachers absent.

The teachers belonging to a middle school in Shangas were immediately put under suspension, it said adding that the officer had received a compliant from the locals.

The agency said the locals while hailing the move claimed that while the children went to schools their teachers almost always remained absent.
