Seminar on Sir Sayeed’s life, works held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 17:Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan not only envisioned progressive India with both Hindu and Muslim communities marching forward hand in hand but also made a concrete beginning by establishing Aligarh Muslim University to realize his dream. He was secular from the core of his heart. He was not only a towering Urdu writer but also a social reformer. These views were expressed by the eminent scholars of Urdu during the day long national seminar on the life and works of Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan. The one day National seminar was organized by Department of Urdu, University of Jammu here today in Prof Gian Chand Jain seminar hall of the department. The inaugural function presided over by Prof. Beig Ehsas, HoD Urdu Central University Hyderabad. GuIzar Ahmed Qureshi, Director Education was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Meenkashi Kilam Director DOE was the Guest of Honour. While presenting his emotional key note address Dr Ali Javeed from Delhi University said that Sir Sayeed was the, person to bring it renaissance in the out look of Indian Muslim. He was the first one to realize that he was the person to become progressive other then to seize the weapons of scientific education and technology to counter the threat by British to the existence of various religions particularly Islam, Dr Ali Javeed added Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi while speaking on the occasion said that many aspects of the multi dimensional personality of Sayeed still need to be explored. While paying tributes to Sayeed Admed Khan the veteran Journalist JB Ved Bahsin described his multi-dimensional personality. He described Sayeed Ahmed not only a educationist par excellence but also a political figure and above all a reformer. HOD Urdu Prof Shohab Inayat Malik described Sayeed a secular man.
