Bawa Jitmal comes live at Dramatis Fusica 2011

Jammu 17 Oct.- Abhinay School of Dance, Music and Dramatic Arts today staged Dr. Gian Singh’s Bawa Jitmal in the ongoing Dramatis Fusica 2011 organized by Aaditya Bhanu under the banner of Nav Durga Kala Manch at Performing Art Studio, Tangewali Gali, Kachi Chowni, Jammu.Smt. Diljeet Magoo, well known theatrist and career counselor was the chief guest on the occasion. Ganesh Digital Studio, Gandhi Nagar(Goldy Sharma) and Anamika Arts are sponsoring the event.Vikram Sharma, the renowned stage director and artist, Vijay (Anamika Arts) and Santosh Sangra, the senior most female stage artist are the adjudicators of the event who are adjudicating the event for various categories. Rajneesh Gupta, the prominent writer of the state is giving moral support to the event.The play was directed by Ravinder Sharma. The plot of the play revolved around Bawa Jitmal’s abode at Jhiri has been, for the past 450 years, telling the world that dishonesty in life and cruelty to women do not to go unpunished. While the clan of the men who betrayed Baba Jitto no longer exists, many of the families in which a woman dies a cruel death are forced to come to Jhiri for their peace and raise a temple in her honour.However, when Jitto exasperated by his Chachi’s foul temperament, greed and evil designs decided to settle elsewhere, his friend farmer went to the local king and, on the wazirs prodding got some barren land on lease near Jhiri, 20 km. from Jammu, on which he toiled hard. When the crop of wheat, seeds of which he had taken on loan, came out so fine that jealousy and greed overpowered some of the locals hired goons to harvest the crop and they poison the wazir’s ears.In the end, the latter refused to honour the commitment reached with Jittmal and had the crop harvested without the farmer’s consent. At last, Jitmal decided to take his own life and kills himself on the harvested crop.Then the wazir hides the body under a Simbal tree, three km away from the place of suicide, Jittmal’s five year old daughter, Bua Kodi, who too was devout, recovered it. Shocked and hurt, she immolates herself on the pyre of her father.Today’s Presentation was a mind blowing one produced by Ravinder and his team. The actors who performed in the play include Avinash Lakhnotra as Bawa Jittmal, Hampreet Kour as Bua Kodi, Aranga Koul as Chahi Jojain, Rahul Vaid as Nagrik, Vishab Jamwal as Rullo\Nagrik, Sugam as Sutradar\Nagrik, Abhishek Paul as hisso\Nagrik, Dheeraj Sharma as Gagi\Nagrik, Mridul Anand as Mata Bir Singh\Nagrik. Music was composed by Surinder Manhas, costume by Sandeep Thakur, make up by Kanika Sharma, properties by Suneedhi Sharma and Himani Jamwal.Tomorrow, Phool Chand ‘Manav’,s ‘Maa Mujhe Tagore Bana Do’ would be performed by Saraswati Kala Manch at same venue at 5.30 pm.
