Pressure on party high command to revoke suspension of BJP MLAs
10/18/2011 10:03:24 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 18:Supporters of seven suspended BJP MLAs are said to have renewed their efforts for persuading the party high command to revoke the order so that all the seven MLAs are back in the party.
While the party high command is weighing all the pros and cons of any plan to throw all the seven MLAs out of the party a major section of leaders in the organization in Jammu and Kashmir has conveyed to the party high command that in case no action was taken against the MLAs who had indulged in cross voting during the April last Legislative Council election it will cause major erosion in the organization in the state.

They have suggested to the high command that the period of suspension could be reduced so that they are back in the party within the next six months or so.

What seems to have caused annoyance among senior BJP is leaders is a report that those suspended from the party were engineering defection from the organization at a lower level to mount pressure on the party high command forcing it to revoke suspension order served to seven MLAs.

The party leadership has taken a note of reports revealing that number of BJP workers had quit the party.

A senior BJP leader said that these reports were being stage managed to create an impression that the party was on the verge of extinction because of action against the seven MLAs. He claimed that those who had left the party in the recent days were people of no consequences.

The leader suggested to the suspended MLAs to desist from campaigning against the leadership of the state unit of the party and senior BJP functionaries at the national level.

However, supporters of the suspended MLAs have cautioned the party high command against any punitive action against those who have been elected to the Assembly by the people.

If the order was not r evoked it would create a major problem for the party in Jammu and Kashmir.
