PHE Employees Association hold protest rally | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 18: A protest rally of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association (affiliated with INTUC) was held today in support of their demands. A protest rally was held at PHE complex BC road, Jammu today under the chairmanship of Shiv Kumar Sharma-president INTUC J&K who is also the president of Water Works PHE Employees Association for Jammu division, to protest against the callous attitude of the PHE authorities by not accepting the genuine demands of the PHE workers.
Speaking on the occasion Sharma said that there were 16000 daily wagers up to 2005 but the Govt. is considering only 4905 for the permanent services which is injustice with the remaining 9300 daily wagers.
He demanded that all the 16000 daily wagers be consider for permanent services. The demand of one and half day extra pay for carrying out essential services by the PHE employees should also be considered without further loss of time.
The class IV employees who were transferred to out side stations two years back should be transferred and brought to their home stations as they are facing hardships. The tube wells and pump stations are in dilapidated conditions which need immediate repairs.
The government has announced Rs. 3300/- for the daily wagers in the all the departments but it is unfortunate that the PHE workers are not getting this announced salary regularly. He demanded that regular salary should come in the bank accounts of all the daily wagers without any break.
The recommendations of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) should be implemented with letter and sprit. Presently any posts are lying vacant due to death/ retirements and these posts should be filled up on the recommendation of DPC at the earliest.
Sharma also demanded payment of arrears of 6th Pay Commission to the PHE employees and considering grades for technical trades employees.
The protest rally was also addressed by Vinod Sharma, Vijay Luthra, Raman Kumar, Vijay Gupta, Ravi Kumar, Jagdish Singh, Navdeep Singh, Joginder Pal, Joyti Parshad and others.
