PDP was formed to restore honour of JK: Mahbooba | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Bhalwal, Oct 18: “I and my father left Congress to restore the honour and dignity of Jammu Kashmir.” This was stated by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mahbooba Mufti while addressing a gathering at Bhalwal village in Rajpur Assembly Segment today. Mahbooa said she and Mufti Sayed were comfortable in Congress. “we left Congress to work for the welfare of people. We are not power hungry”, she said.
Mahbooba asserted that PDP during its tenure had fulfilled the promises which the party had made with the people of Jammu Kashmir during 2002 Assembly Elections. “Although we had only 16 members in our kitty yet we, under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayed, had changed socio-economic scene of the state besides creating a sense of security among the common masses”, she said and added that in its three years PDP earned credibility and confidence of the people.
“Unlike National Conference, PDP leadership has never compromised with its principles for the power”, she asserted and reminded the gathering that PDP had entered into an power sharing alliance with Congress in the year 2002 only after formulation of Common Minimum Programme (CMP)- an agenda to run the coalition.
She said it was all due to the pro-people policies of the party that PDP has al emerged as formidable alternative in the state within a short span of time. “PDP would forcefully pursue its pro-people agenda to restore dignity of the people and to establish sustainable peace, stability and prosperity”, she said.
Terming present regime has total failure, PDP chief said that youth of the state had pinned their hopes on young Chief Minister of the State but today their hopes have been dashed to ground due to mis-governance of this regime.
Expressing concern over simmering discontent among youth of Jammu Kashmir, she said that state government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been brazenly auctioning government jobs.
Calling upon the people of Jammu to strengthen hands of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, she said during his tenure Mufti has set an example of good governance. “PDP led regime has carved out a path of equitable development in the state,” she said.
Asserting that PDP would continue its fighting against corruption, she said being main opposition party of the state her party will take its ongoing fight against corruption to its logical end.
Trilok Singh Bajwa, Thakur Balbir Singh, Ved Mahajan, Daman Bhasin, Shanti Devi, Hussain Ali Wafa, Vijay Dogra, Suram Singh, Capt Anil Gour, Suresh Sharma, P R Bhagat, Rashpal Singh ,Vikram Singh, Parshotam Singh, K K Sharma, Chatter Saini and others addressed the rally. A large number of newly elected Panches and Sarpanches participated in the rally.
