Gujjars hold protest demonstration at Lal Chowk
Scores arrested for demanding share in developmental schemes

Srinagar: Oct 19: Around 100 Gujjars and Bakarwals were arrested by J&K Police when they were trying to lodge protest demonstration at Lal Chowk this afternoon.
The protest was organized by National Organization--- Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha under the leadership its state president Eshfaq Ur Rehman Poswal which was attended by tribal dignitaries, social leaders, sarpanchs of gujjar community from all over the valley.
The protestors were demanding creation of Administrative Department and Ministry of Tribal Affairs in J&K, employment package for unemployed youth of J&K, implement National Schemes for Development of Tribal communities including Indra Awas Youjna, Narega, Prime Minister rozgar Youjna.
Earlier the organization held dharna and peaceful procession at press enclave Lal Chowk Srinagar today.
Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha J&K chapter too organized a massive dharna to protest against deprivation of justice and right to the gujjar community despite approaching all the concerned authorities at the helm of affairs including Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief Secretary through writing as also submitting memorandum during meeting of deputation.
Gujjars in large number hailing from Kupwara, Tangdar, Lolab, Handwara, Kulgam, (Yarri Kha Nandimarg Gujjar Basti) Shopian, Killer Jampathri, Budgam, Baramulla, Uri, Katiyawali Bandipora, Ganderbal, Tral, and Anantnag had assembled.
Different male and female and youth speakers spoke on the occasion. Prominent speakers were Haji Faiz Ahmad (Sarpanch Yarri Kha), Choudhary Nizam Ud Din Baniya, Choudhary Naik Alam Poswal, Choudhary Abdul Hameed Kasana, Choudhary Abdul Rehman (Sarpanch), Mushtaq Aiwan, Haji Jaleel, Choudhary Mohammad Sadaq Bakarwal, Choudhary Hameed Bajad, Farooq Bajad, Choudhary Saif Ud Din Phamda (Sarpanch) etc.
