Sham calls for rejuvenation of JKHPMC health Directs for setting new benchmarks

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 19:-Minister for Horticulture & Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma has said that functioning of J&K Horticulture Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation will be rejuvenated to make it a self sustained institution.
While reviewing the functioning of the Corporation at a meeting held here today, the Minister said the government would set the new benchmarks of this important institution and every one will be made accountable. He said that officers will be given specific annual targets and they will have to work with extra zeal and commitment to achieve the goals and make the corporation a competitive body.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of the Corporation, Mr. Sham directed the Managing Director, JKHPMC to devise new strategies to improve its functioning. He directed for revival of sick juice plants in the valley. He asked for establishing sale outlets at vital locations to dispose off the state’s produces on the pattern of other states to generate revenue.
Clarifying that the government will not frequently come to the rescue of the Corporation, the Minister said the Corporation has to strengthen its network to generate resources for its survival. There is great scope for expansion and all out efforts should be made to explore new areas strictly on commercial lines as per the mandate, he asserted.
Managing Director, JKHPMC Syed Rafiq Ahmad briefed the Minister about the functioning of the institution and initiatives taken for its improvement. He informed that the Corporation has formulated a comprehensive programme to make it a profit earning institution. He hoped that the new initiatives will give positive results in near future. He assured the Minister that all out efforts will be made to achieve the new goals.
All officers of the Corporation were present in the meeting.
