Azad’s brother denies any rift in family
‘He is asset for whole country’
10/20/2011 8:54:38 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Oct 20 : Denying any family rift, Ghulam Mustafa Bhat, younger brother of Union Health Minster Ghulam Nabi Azad Thursday said that there was no comparison between his brother and his 26-year-old son Mehboob Bhat.
Talking to KNS, Bhat said that Azad was an asset not only to their family but to the entire country and his leadership capabilities were being acknowledge world wide. “Our family is in politics since 1956, and Azad has been a non controversial leader all over his political career.” Mustafa said.
Rubbishing any intensions of joining active politics, Mustafa said, “People of my area had so many times insisted me to contest elections from Inderwal, Bani or Bhaderwah constituencies. But I’m not interested as we do have Azad sahib in politics.”
Asked why his son joined the politics, Mustafa said, “Mehboob undertook the membership drive with the consent of Azad. We had approached Azad Sahab and it was only after we got a green signal from him that Mehboob undertook the drive. Azad sahib even assured his help if there was any such need.”
He, however, said that there were some people within Congress who wanted to create confusions and divide the family for their personal benefits. “But they wont succeed in their efforts,” vowed Mustafa.
Terming Azad as an incredible leader, Mustafa said, “He has remained allegation free during his tenure as Chief Minster and other public offices in union government, but his family has played an important role to keep his image clean. No official in the state can say that even once we used Azad’s name to get benefits,” he said.
Terming the alleged Forest scandal during Azad’s tenure as Chief Minster a conspiracy to malign his and his brother’s image, he challenged to handover all the files to any probe agency to ascertain the truth. “I had told them to handover my files to CBI or any other agency they want, because I know, I have never been benefited out of way.” He said. “When Azad took over as Chief Minster, he shot letters to all heads of the departments asking them not to entertain his relatives which was misused by officers who even denied our own right to us under the garb of that circular.”
