| Draft national policy for employees | | | New Delhi: The Government has prepared a draft National Policy on safety, health and environment for employees of private and public sector.
Informing the Lok Sabha about this policy, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Chandra Sekhar Sahu said, “National Policy seeks to achieve reduction in the incidence of work related injuries, fatalities, diseases.”
Sahu said that the Policy, when announced, will cover all sectors of economic activities.
Sahu also said that the data regarding accidents in the unorganised construction sector in the country is not maintained at the Central level.
“In the Central sphere, 14 accidents took place during the last three years in this sector covered under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Condition of Service) Act, 1996,” he said.
“As far as agriculture sector is concerned, no accidents due to power threshers have been reported in the recent past,” he added. |
