SKUAST Jammu to make 2900 journals available online for researchers | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, October 20 : :- The Sheri Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu has formulated a plan for making 2900 journals available online for the researchers and students. This was disclosed during a Workshop cum training programme on Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA) organized under the aegis of Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture, Unit of Simulation and Informatics, Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi funded by National Agricultural Innovative Project (NAIP) and conducted at Sher–e–Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu, R.S.Pura on Wednesday. The workshop was held under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Dr. B. Mishra. Dr. Mishra is keen to make Central Library, SKUAST of Jammu as a model library for agriculture and allied disciplines and CeRA in this regard can be instrumental in making about 2900 journals available online for the researchers and students. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. K.S.Risam, Director Extension Education. He highlighted the contribution of NAIP in general and Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture in particular. From NAIP Dr. H. Chandrasekharan, Consortia Principal Investigator, CeRA and Head, Unit of Simulation and Informatics, IARI, New Delhi, Dr. A.K.Jain, Principal Investigator, E-Granth, Dr. A.K. Mishra, Co-Principal Investigator, CeRA and Sandeep Sharma from M/S Informatics India delivered the expert lectures. The faculty members from Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry of SKUAST-Jammu attended the workshop. All the Officers of the University and Dean, FOA were also present during the function. Dr. H. Chandrasekharan highlighted the purpose of the workshop and also gave a brief overview of CeRA which is catering to the needs of e-resources in agriculture to all the agricultural universities in India under National Agricultural Research System (NARS). Dr. R M Bhagat, DRI-Cum-Dean, PGS and Coordinator in his concluding remarks emphasized that shortly every scientist will be provided with online access to CeRA and e-Granth on their desktop to enable them to access the latest developments in research and technology in agriculture.(KIP)
