World Iodine Deficiency day celebrated at SDH Akhnoor

JAMMU, October 20 : National Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Programme (NIDDCP) is launched by Government of India to fight the disease produced by Iodine Deficiency.
In J&K, it is promoted by Directorate of Health Services, Jammu and Drug and food Control Organization in collaboration. In this connection an Awareness/ Health Education Camp was organized at SDH Akhnoor.
Dr. Ujalla Verma, Technical Officer, NIDDCP was the main speaker on the occasion, which was attended by ASHA workers, Anganwari Workers, FMPHW and Students (Trainee) numbering more than 200 of Block Akhnoor.
A practical training was also provided to the participants to detect Iodized and non Iodized salt by using a kit provided free by the department. Others present were Dr. Sham Gopal , Divisional Nutritional Officer, Dr. Indu Anand D/D Dentistry, Dr. Sushma Kaul, Food and Safety Officer, Kamal Lal, CHO, Veena Health Educator, LHV’s.
The whole programme was organized under the supervision of Dr. N. S. Bhatial, Block Medical Officer, Akhnoor.
