Jammu Frontier bags Weightlifting, Wrestling trophies

JAMMU, Oct 20: Giving their exceptional performance, weightlifting and wrestlers today guided the host Jammu Frontier to win the championship trophies in both the events securing maximum points in the ongoing Inter-Frontier BSF Games at BSF Stadium, Paloura, here.
Besides this, Jammu Frontier also shared team championship trophy in Gymnastics with Tripura after both earned equal 326.85 points. Second place went to Rajasthan (280.55 points) while Assam and Manipur (259.80) remained at third spot.
Earlier, in Weightlifting, Jammu Frontier emerged as clear winner after team secured highest 36 points. Gujarat and Rajasthan shared second and third place respectively.
Jammu Frontier also won team championship trophy in Wrestling (Free Style) while Punjab bagged second place and Gujarat remained third in the points tally. The Wrestling (Greco Roman) trophy went to Rajasthan with 57 points while Assam and Manipur remained second with 49 points in their account. Third place in this event went to South Bengal with 48 points.
However, the competition in boxing and judo was still in progress when last reports were filed.
Meanwhile, as per the organizers, the valedictory function of the five-day Games shall take place tomorrow at 4.30 pm at BSF Stadium.

JUDO: Plus 100 kg: Hans Raj, Jammu, Ist; Umesh Kumar, Punjab, 2nd; Satyam Parkash, A&M and Jaynandan Parsad, South Bengal, joint 3rd.
WEIGHTLIFTING: 94 kg: Tanaji Nikam, MALDA, Ist; E Kannyappan, Jammu, 2nd and Manjit Singh, Gujarat, 3rd. 105 kg: S Nanda, South Bengal, Ist; Prakash Kumar, Jammu, 2nd and Pargat Singh, Punjab, 3rd.
WRESTLING (Greco Roman): 84 kg: Ram Kishan, Rajasthan, Ist; Satvir Singh, A&M, 2nd ; Ved Pal, Kashmir and Rajesh Kumar, Jammu, joint 3rd.
WRESTLING (Free Style): Jagbir Singh, Punjab, Ist; Saif Ali, Jammu, 2nd; Rajbir Singh, Gujarat and Kashmira Singh, Jammu, joint 3rd.
