339 constables become proud members of Border Security Force family in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 20 : Joyous scenes were today witnessed when 339 recruits became the proud members the Border Security Force (BSF) family after 38-week-long rigorous basic training at Subsidiary Training Centre (STC) in the central Kashmir district of Badgam.

Promising to carry on the legacy of excellence of the force, the new recruits took oath to serve the motherland at a colourful Attestation-Cum-Passing Out Parade here today.

Minister for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control Taj Mohiuddin took salute at the parade.

It was a dream come true for us to become proud members of the BSF family," said the recruits, hailing from different parts of the country after the parade.

A senior BSF officer said the recruits successfully completed 38 weeks of rigorous basic training during which they were put through various dimensions and aspects of training.

He said they were trained in physical fitness and mental robustness, effective use of arms, map reading and maintaining utmost discipline.

The recruits were also trained in field engineering, field craft, minor tactics, anti-terrorism, counter insurgency and commando operations.

They were also given special lectures on Human Rights, the officer said.

Mr Mohiuddin congratulated the recruits for the excellent parade and wished them good luck for future.

He also lauded the role of officers and training staff of STC in shaping these young men to shoulder the responsibility placed on them and rise to expectations of the nation.

The parade was commanded by constable Jahan Yadav while best cadets medals were won by constable Susheel Singh and constable Akhilesh Kumar.

STC, established on June 10, 1990 has trained 10,335 recruits, which include 1749 Kashmiri youths, who included surrendered militants.

These Kashmiri youths are now performing their duty in different parts of the country.
