| Corporate Centre is new Power Grid TT champion | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 20: Beating the title holders, Eastern Region-II, the Corporate Centre (CC) today emerged as new champion in the Inter-Region Power Grid Table Tennis Championship underway at MA Stadium, here.
In the well contested final, Corporate Centre made it a 3-2 win with RS Bisht and J Mukherjee losing one and winning another singles. On the other hand, the efforts put in by star performer, Ronel Singh gone waste after other team members fail to win even a single game.
The reigning singles champion, Ronel Singh won both his singles matches but could not lead his side to victory.
The Detailed Results: (Final): R S Bisht lost to Ronel Singh 10-12, 8-11, 10-12; J Mukherjee bt AG Rao 11-6, 11-4, 11-9; Sameer Choudhary bt Sri Hari 11-8, 11-13, 11-7, 11-7; J Mukherjee lost to Ronel Singh 6-11, 7-11, 10-12; R S Bisht bt AG Rao 11-6, 11-6, 11-7.
Earlier, in the semi-final, Corporate Centre beat Eastern Region-I 3-0 while Eastern Region-II outplayed POSOCO 3-0. Third place in team championship went to POSOCO after they beat Eastern Region-I in the hardliner.
Meanwhile, the open events of singles and doubles championships started today. The finals have been scheduled for tomorrow, followed by the valedictory function at 3.30 pm.
