Elder tour organized by army | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, October 20 : Karvan-E-Aman” a motivational tour organised by ‘Romeo Force’ under OP Sadbhavna for elderly people of Poonch comprising of 25 elderly people from remote villages of Surankote was flagged in by Officiating Commander of Sect HQ RR in a colourful ceremony held at Army Goodwill School, Potha. The tour accompanied by an Army Officer and one Junior Commission Officer visited Ajmer, Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur and Delhi in ten days time, during which the villagers visited many historical places and destinations of tourist interest. While in Delhi, a visit to Rashtrapati Bhawan was organized for the participants of tour, where they got an opportunity to interacted with Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, President of India. Aim of this tour was to provide an exposure to the elderly people to the development and progress made by the country in various fields, visit places of historical, religious and cultural importance and also see development in other parts of the country which are not affected by insurgency. Speaking on the occasion, Azim Khan and Mohd Ayoub Shabnam resident of Potha stated that the tour was successful in providing the elders an opportunity to witness the development taking place in rest of India, which they hoped that would act as a strong motivation to elders to excel in their respective fields and contribute to the development of the nation..
