Early Times Report
srinagar, Oct 20: Jammu and Kashmir government has refuted the report regarding the manipulation of date of birth certificate by a senior IAS Officer Basharat Ahmad Dhar, calling it as untrue and without any factual ground.
A government spokesman in a statement issued here today said that doubts are being created in the minds of people about the probity, honesty and straight forwardness of the officer by citing some court orders and building stories in this regard. Statement adds, "The matter with regard to verification of Date of Birth certificate was taken up with the State Board of School Education. It was learnt after verification that one Basharat Ahmed son of Shri Abdul Rahman resident of Rangtang Srinagar who had passed his Secondary School Examination (Class 10th) from Government High School Aishmuquam had contested correctness of his age in Munsif's Court and later the matter has been finally adjudicated by the High Court whereby the contention of the appellant was not upheld".
Statement further says, "with a view to bring the officer into disrepute, an impression was given that the Date of Birth certificate has been manipulated by Shri Basharat Ahmad Dhar which statement has been refuted on the receipt of a detailed report from the State Board of School Education. In fact, Shri Basharat Ahmad Dhar has appeared in the Secondary School Examination (10th class) under Roll No. 4806 in Session 1966. He is shown to be resident of 348 Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar and has passed out from Tyndle Bisco School, Srinagar".
Statement further reads, "All these facts put together, it is felt imperative to bring into the notice of the general public that the report carried in the newspapers about the manipulation of the Date of Birth is false, concocted and far from reality. The news has been spread with a view to creating wrong impression about the officer who has performed his duties assiduously and conscientiously for more than 3½ decades and has brought all along laurels to the Government. Shri Basharat Ahmad Dhar has performed in varying capacities in the Government and has emerged to be one of the most capable officers with enormous administrative acumen and reputation".
Government spokesman has requested the media to strictly verify the facts before reporting these in their newspapers as unconfirmed and un-established reports are likely to create doubts in the minds of people and hurt the feelings of the persons who are made subjects in such unconfirmed reports.
