| Police commemoration day | | Police martyrs remembered at Udhampur | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER-21:-To pay homage to the police martyrs for their supreme sacrifices made for the cause of the Nation, Police Commemoration Day was observed at District Police Lines, Udhampur, here on Friday.
A guard of honour followed by floral tributes were paid to the valiant and brave police martyrs who laid down their lives for safeguarding the interest of civilians.
MLA, Chenani, Mr. Krishan Chander Bhagat, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi, Mr. Jagjit Kumar, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur. Mr. Baseer Ahmed Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Beig, Second in Command 137 Bn CRPF, Udhampur, Mr. P.K. Kauldhar, District Officers, Police Officers of all ranks, representatives of various political parties, prominent citizens and family members of the martyrs also paid their floral tributes to the departed souls.
Speaking on the occasion, the DIG threw light on the importance of the Day saying that Police Commemoration Day is a momentous and poignant day on the police calendar to recall and pay rich tributes to the dedicated policemen whom we entrust with the protection and preservation of our cherished way of life. He said that it is an opportunity to acknowledge the grief of the families who lost their dear ones while protecting the life and property of the citizens.
On the occasion, gifts were also distributed among the family members of police martyrs.
